Sweet things become enemy number one when you want to lose weight. Recent research has shown that excessive sugar consumption contributes to the obesity epidemic. On average, a person eats twice as much sugar than they should.
A sedentary life style and work at a desk, eating excessive sugar can quickly turn into fat because it triggers the release of insulin, which in turn encourages grow store excess energy in the form of fat.
Try to choose an alternative that is low in sugar and get to read the labels of food you buy. If the sugar in the list of the top three, do not buy it. Foods that contain hidden sugars such as cereal, yogurt, fruit flavors, including low-fat, fast food, soft drinks, and bottled sauces.
2. Trans fats
Trans fats are unsaturated fats that form behave like saturated fats because of their chemical structure. This should be avoided because trans fats raise bad cholesterol levels in your blood which also decreases the good cholesterol in the blood.
These fats are most often found in some margarines and oils. So always check food labels and choose the polyunsaturated and monounsaturated instead.
3. Processed Meat
This includes meat that has something that makes it last longer (by salting, smoking or chemical preservatives).
Meat is bad for health because it is high in fat, calories, and salt, and is associated with cancer because of the chemicals and nitrates used to preserve meat.
Last year, a study of half a million adults across Europe linking eating too much processed meat with premature death. Try reducing it by introducing a meat-free day. Always read the label when buying food.
